Malaria Campaign

In September, Hope and Life once again addressed the pressing issue of malaria with an intensive prevention campaign. Why? Isn’t malaria already receiving enough attention?

Yes and no, malaria remains a serious challenge and threat to public health , particularly in communities with a lot of shallow and stagnant water where mosquitoes breed. This is especially true for the Littoral region and the rural communities of Békoko, Babenga, and Bwadibo, where the hospital is located.

The most recent Cameroonian Malaria Indicator Survey (CMIS) from 2022 revealed a malaria prevalence of 28% in children aged 6 months to 4.5 years in the Littoral region.

Of the 171 children tested, 62 tested positive, which corresponds to almost a third of all those tested.

At the same time, we distributed 163 mosquito nets and conducted home visits to educate families about malaria prevention, early detection and treatment.

Together we can make a change!
