This is what waste disposal looks like in Cameroon.
With your help we can change this!
Waste disposal in Cameroon
Waste disposal is a major problem in Cameroon. There is a lack of state infrastructure to dispose of waste, especially medical waste, properly. Recycling, for example of PET bottles, is also practically impossible. Accordingly, the waste is usually buried or incinerated on site 🔥. This harms the environment and people's health.
Our partner
The waste incinerator is being implemented in close cooperation with our partner Technik ohne Grenzen.
An incinerator should provide a remedy!
The disposal of medical waste is particularly risky. In addition to an increased risk of infection, the medical substances should not be released into the environment.
The waste from our medical health center, which we opened in January, is currently stored temporarily in a pit due to a lack of infrastructure. With your support we will build a professional incinerator for CHF 5'200.- to better protect people and the environment. In addition, we will conduct training sessions with the local population to ensure the use and maintenance of the kiln, thereby generating additional jobs. The oven should not only solve the disposal problem of the medical health center, but also be a first step towards enabling some of the local population to dispose of household waste properly.
