Women’s Clinic and Laboratory
Due to increasing needs in the healthcare sector , the hospital management began some time ago to further develop and specifically expand the hospital together with us at KamerunGo.
Last year, thanks to the support of numerous private donors, the Rotary Club Brig, and the World Mercy Fund Switzerland , a second building was put into operation .
In recent weeks, together with Hope and Life Cameroon and the local medical and nursing staff, we have thoroughly discussed and analyzed all the needs, requirements, and realistic possibilities for the planned expansion. The construction has been planned for some time, but has not yet been possible due to the political situation.
Together we have decided to adhere to the initial plans for a women’s clinic specializing in obstetrics, as well as pediatrics and neonatology . This is a service that does not yet exist in the region in this form, but will certainly represent a significant added value.
Another focus will be on the laboratory . It will be expanded as quickly as possible and equipped with a bacteriology unit . In addition, we will establish the first blood bank in the area.
At the same time, this allows us to keep open the possibility of performing surgical procedures in the future. Thanks to an operating room and the first Hope and Life X-ray machine, this is now definitely possible.
The next steps
To realize the planned expansions within the next two years , we will first optimize and expand the existing premises. The extension construction will then follow in a second phase.
The initial plans and a corresponding rough cost estimate are already available. Now the focus is on initial collaborations and a fundraising appeal .
Step by step, we will work with the existing resources and try to generate new ones. Our goal is to open the extension by the end of 2028 at the latest .
